I have been searching for a 318ti to take over DD duty from the mk4 2.slow golf. Finally found one that was right for me! Picked it up about a week ago. 212k miles stock everything except the bilstein shocks/struts and z3 wheels. On the to do list: brakes, rear shocks, h&r sport springs, needs a new windshield and headliner.

I have always liked those!

Me too! They are very polarizing. People seem to love them or hate them.

I like the wheels. Looks period specific.

These are such cool cars. I wanted on to DD a long time.. but they are either clean and $$$ or beat up and not worth owning. Great buy!

Buddy of mine lives in Santa Fe - still lusts after one of those.

Awesome car! Looks suprisingly clean with that mileage. A blue 98 Compact should have been my first car.

Yeah I took a while to find the right one. If they are well taken care of they seem to go forever. This one was owned by an older BMW enthusiast then purchased by a BMW tech. Then I got it from him for $3,400. Some people would say that was too much but it is very clean and has no rust.
They very in price a lot based on several properties. Manual brings a good premium as does the sport package. In fact any dark interior seems to bring a higher price. The ‘95 club sport and ‘99 are by far the most expensive. Mine is a ‘98 sport package and has the fairly uncommon factory rear spoiler.

Nice!
I almost bought one of those last summer, but I didn’t pull the trigger because it had an auto and a California roof.
They're neat little cars for sure.

A guy in our school’s car club has one of these. Had a bunch or handling upgrades that made it feel like it was a go kart. Now straight 6 swapped and scary as hell.

Congrats on owning an unusual gem! I’ve always liked the Compacts, and even test-drove a green ‘96 318Ti back in the day.
Here’s an Oppositelock feature
from a couple years back that goes deep into the history of these cool odd ducks.

Honestly that’s not a bad price for that model and such good history! I say NP!

I know a lot of people hate these, but I think they are really cool little hatches.
